I have been making rosaries for about 29 years, and jewelry for almost as long. I enjoy the whole process from beginning to end, and can usually be found to have a pair of pliers, wire and maybe some kind of beads in my hands, except possibly when I'm sleeping.

Mom's Day

This is a bitter sweet holiday for me. I'm not a mom of any human children, but I am a "Mom" to a bunch of kitties. My husband and I did cat rescue when he was alive, and I've still got the ones that couldn't be adopted out due to either medical or behavioral problems. They are my "kids" and I swear, they can be as challenging as human kids sometimes. However, as hard as it is for me now that my husband is gone, it's even harder for my roommate, who can't be with either her mom or her kids this Mom's Day. Mother's Day in Mexico, is May 10th. Then we have the one here tomorrow, so it's kind of like missing 2 Mother's Days.
In order to make it a little easier, I decided to make her something she could remember this day with, and the necklace and earring set is what I designed and made for her. I gave it to her tonight, kind of "in between" the 2 days, and she really liked it. I'm glad I could bring her a little joy since she's without her family.
The heart is Murano Glass, and the round stones are black opal. The cylinder stones are prehinite, the chain is handcrafted of Argentium sterling silver wire. The chain holding the heart is double, going through the heart and the 2 twisted rings on either side. She said she liked it because it would go with everything. I hope it brings some happy thoughts as she goes through the day tomorrow. She got to talk with both of her daughters, and her mom on the phone, so at least she had that.

To all of you moms out there, whether you're a mom to a human, or like me, are a mom to kitties who lost their real moms, have a very happy and wonderful day tomorrow! I hope your families let you know how much you mean to them.
